Job Summary

Purpose

The Maintenance Manager will oversee the maintenance department, ensuring the facility\'s equipment, machinery, and infrastructure are properly maintained and function optimally. The role involves managing maintenance schedules, budgets, compliance with safety regulations, and leading a team of maintenance technicians. The role is hands-on when necessary, ensuring PM and WO activity are completed in a timely manner.

 

Responsibilities

  • Lead, manage, and develop the maintenance team, ensuring adequate staffing, training, and performance management.
  • Assign work, monitor performance, and ensure timely completion of maintenance tasks.
  • Oversee and schedule preventive maintenance programs to minimize downtime and extend the life of equipment.
  • Ensure timely troubleshooting and repair of equipment breakdowns.
  • Manage and monitor reactive maintenance requests to address issues promptly.
  • Develop and maintain a detailed maintenance schedule to ensure minimal operational interruptions.
  • Plan and manage both planned and unplanned maintenance activities.
  • Coordinate with other departments to schedule maintenance without impacting production timelines.
  • Develop and manage the maintenance department’s budget.
  • Monitor spending to ensure cost-effectiveness and compliance with budgetary constraints.
  • Research and negotiate contracts for third-party maintenance services or supplies.
  • Ensure staff are trained in safety practices and emergency procedures.
  • Oversee the procurement and inventory of tools, equipment, and spare parts.
  • Ensure efficient stock levels and timely ordering of parts and supplies.
  • Implement and recommend process improvements to enhance the reliability and efficiency of equipment and facilities.
  • Analyze maintenance data and performance metrics to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
  • Prepare regular reports on maintenance activities, downtime, cost, and other performance metrics.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance logs, repairs, and inspections.
  • Ensure all maintenance operations comply with safety standards, regulations, and environmental guidelines.
  • Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to identify hazards and recommend corrective actions.
  • Ensure that all employees receive the appropriate safety training and certifications.
  • Oversee the investigation of workplace accidents, incidents, and near misses, determining root causes and ensuring corrective actions are taken.

 

Skills

  • Strong knowledge of regulatory standards, including FDA and ISO requirements.
  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal health and safety regulations (e.g., OSHA, EPA).
  • Strong knowledge of maintenance procedures, equipment, and safety regulations.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across teams and departments.
  • Proficiency in computer systems and maintenance management software (e.g., Limble).
  • Ability to manage budgets and control costs.
  • Excellent project management, problem solving, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.

 

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering discipline, Industrial Technology, or a related field preferred (or equivalent work experience).
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a maintenance management role, ideally within the manufacturing, industrial, or facilities management sectors; FDA-regulated or medical device industry preferred.
  • Experience in medical device manufacturing and/or cleanroom environments is preferred.
  • Clearance of favorable background investigation required.
