Purpose
The Director of Training and Development is responsible for providing strategic leadership in designing, implementing, and evaluating comprehensive training and development programs that are aligned with the organization’s goals. This role oversees workplace safety, compliance, OSHA, HIPAA, leadership development programs, and other regulatory standards while fostering a culture of continuous learning and development. The Director collaborates with cross-functional teams to ensure workforce readiness, enhances leadership capabilities, and supports the organization’s growth. The Director also manages the Learning Management System (LMS) and evaluates the need for implementing new technology and platforms.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a strategy for organizational training and development, aligning programs with business goals and compliance standards
- Build, design, and implement comprehensive training programs tailored to meet organizational and employee needs.
- Create and design training content and material; formalize documents to ensure consistency across the HR department and organization
- Design and implement training initiatives that promote employee growth, performance, and safety while meeting OSHA, HIPAA, and other regulatory requirements
- Lead succession planning efforts to identify and prepare high-potential employees for future roles within the organization
- Evaluate and manage the Learning Management System (LMS); lead the selection and implementation of new LMS platforms as needed to increase efficiency and enhance learning capabilities
- Conduct comprehensive training needs assessments across departments to identify gaps and recommend solutions that drive employee engagement and organizational success
- Oversee onboarding and orientation programs to ensure a seamless transition for new hires and promote alignment with company culture
- Develop and deliver leadership training programs to enhance management skills and prepare emerging leaders
- Maintain a working knowledge of FDA 21 CFR 1271, FDA 21 CFR 820, AATB standards, ISO Standards, cGMP/CGTP, other relevant regulations/standards, and internal organizational policies and standard operating procedures
- Lead initiatives to support employees through organizational changes, including mergers and/or acquisitions and technological transitions
- Partner with various departments and teams to design and deliver training programs
- Create, update, and enforce training policies and procedures to reflect organizational priorities and industry best practices
- Utilize data analytics and reporting to track the effectiveness of training programs, ensuring continuous improvement
- Serve as a coach and mentor for managers and employees, offering personalized guidance to support talent development and performance improvement
- Build strong relationships with leaders across all business units to understand their training needs and provide tailored solutions
- Maintain a budget for training programs and LMS initiatives, ensuring efficient allocation of resources
- Serve as a subject matter expert on talent development, offering guidance to leadership on best practices and emerging trends
- Flexibility to work outside of normal business hours during weekdays or weekends, as necessary, to meet operational needs and ensure business continuity.

Skills
- Proven expertise in training and development principles, strategies, and tools, including LMS platforms
- Understanding of OSHA, HIPAA, and other regulatory compliance standards related to employee training
- Ability to lead large-scale change initiatives, including the implementation of new technologies and systems
- Exceptional leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and inspire at all levels of the organization
- Strong analytical and strategic planning abilities to align training programs with organizational objectives
- Outstanding communication skills, including presentation, coaching, and facilitation abilities
- Exceptional organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Ability to be hands-on and work both independently and as a team
Qualifications/Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, or a related field from an accredited institution preferred
- Minimum 7 years of experience in Training and Development, Learning and Development, or a related field, with at least 5 years in a leadership role required
- Experience working on a Human Resources team; HR experience preferred
- Expertise in regulatory compliance training, including OSHA and HIPAA, strongly preferred
- Experience with LMS management, including implementation of new systems, is required
- Clearance of favorable background investigation required
