Purpose:
The Training and Development Manager is accountable for succession planning, performance management, program development and specialized training. Work collaboratively with other departments to identify training needs, design courses, and deliver effective training sessions. Assess necessary skills and implement training strategies. Work closely with the Human Resources management and department management, to provide recommendations and guidance regarding training needs.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Assess the skills, performance, productivity, and talents of employees in the company and preparing written evaluations with advice for improvement.
- Search for gaps in training content and materials that need updating to generate higher productivity and safety among staff.
- Researching new training supplies and materials that can enhance the company’s training procedures while providing value to employees.
- Identify future training needs and create a curriculum to facilitate that training.
- Lead programs to assist employees with transitions due to technological changes, acquisitions, and mergers.
- Communicate with management, trainers, and team members to ensure that all needs are met.
- Set up executive or leadership development programs for lower-level employees.
- Conduct orientation programs and arranging on-the-job training for new hires.
- Resolve any specific problems and tailor training programs as necessary.
- Create and implement policies and procedures that pertain to employee trainings/programs.
- Create and conduct training regarding performance management, leadership skills, etc.
- Provide 1-1 and group coaching on business matters, talent management, effective communication, and performance improvement.
- Develop career development plans for employees and provide guidance and support in achieving their goals.
- Analyze employee relations trends with leadership and help develop proactive strategies, solutions, programs, and policies.
- Advise and train manager and supervisors on training and development best practices and strategies.
- Utilize data and analytics to guide decision making and empower our people managers.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Starting job duties on time, staying on the job throughout the assigned shift to complete duties properly, and attending all scheduled meetings and appointments
Skills & Abilities:
- Knowledge of training and development policies and practices
- Thorough understanding and application of internal and external training and development principles, concepts, practices and standards
- Ability to build strong working relationships across all levels of the organization, including remote areas
- Excellent planning, organization and time management skills, and attention to detail
- Ability to handle multiple tasks, and work in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills; must be an articulate and persuasive communicator, excellent presentation skills
- Strong business acumen
- Ability to secure and maintain a favorable background investigation and clearance
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management or similar field required.
- 5+ years of human resources experience as a Training and Development or Learning and Development role.
- PHR, SHRM-CP, or CPTD equivalent highly preferred.
