Purpose: 

The Tissue Receiving Manager will play a critical role in overseeing the department operations dedicated to receiving tissue donors from recovery agencies. This multifaceted position requires a strategic thinker with strong organizational skills, exceptional communication abilities, and a keen understanding of the regulatory landscape in the tissue banking industry.

 

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Program Development:
    • Assist the Director of Tissue Acquisition in the development and implementation of a comprehensive Tissue Acquisition Program strategy in alignment with company goals and industry best practices.
    • Refine existing processes and develop new ones for receiving and inventory management of donor tissues.
  • Quality Assurance:
    • Work with quality assurance department to implement and oversee protocols to ensure the integrity and safety of acquired tissues.
    • Maintain a proficient working knowledge of FDA 21 CFR 1271, AATB standards and the organization’s Policies and Procedures.
  • Data Management:
    • Maintain the database for tracking donor tissues, ensuring accuracy and accessibility for internal reporting and regulatory compliance.
  • Reporting and Analysis:
    • Assist with generating regular reports on program performance, donor acquisition metrics, and key performance indicators to internal teams and with recovery partners.
    • Conduct data analysis to identify opportunities for program improvement and optimization.
  • Team Management
    • Manage tissue acquisition department team to ensure adherence to workload and quality requirements.
  • Ensure management of time efficiency and priorities between manager and team members including starting job duties on time, staying on the job throughout the assigned shift to complete duties properly, and attending all scheduled meetings and appointments.

 

Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong understanding of regulatory requirements in tissue donation and transplantation, especially birth tissues.
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements and quality standards applicable to the tissue, biologics and/or medical device industry (e.g., FDA, AATB, ISO).
  • Proven ability to navigate ambiguity, adapt quickly to change, and drive results in a dynamic setting.
  • Exceptional project management and organizational skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to secure and maintain a favorable background investigation and clearance.

 

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor\'s Degree preferred.
  • CTBS (Certified Tissue Banking Specialist) designation highly preferred.
  • Proven experience in tissue banking, organ procurement, or related field required.
