Planner/Scheduler

Job Summary

Purpose

The Planner/Scheduler role primarily supports manufacturing with scheduling, tracking, reconciling and follow-up, as needed to support the Build Schedule, forecast, and company objectives. Secondarily, there may be execution of delivery releases and expediting of Purchased Items and Consumables, as well as, Services to support Engineering and other support departments. The position will exhibit excellent communication skills, a sense of urgency with skills in Microsoft Excel (including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs and Graphs) and ERP systems, such as Oracle/QAD/SAP/NetSuite.

 

Responsibilities

  • Develop production schedules based on sales forecasts and historic averages
  • Work closely w/purchasing, supply chain, production, maintenance and quality personnel to convert sales forecasts into actionable and achievable production schedule plans
  • Based on production needs, advise/communicate overtime requirements to Operations with 3-4 days’ notice
  • Monitor raw material deliveries to support the Production Schedule
  • Identify inventory shorts and stock positions to help achieve/maintain committed build plans
  • Monitor planned vs actual consumption to help refine standard usage values for Consumables
  • Coordinate vendor returns for damages and non-conforming material
  • Systematically maintain inventory levels for factory consumables, including office supplies
  • Create and update purchase orders with accurate delivery dates, as needed
  • Build and maintain vendor relationships through constant communication, as needed
  • Reconcile PO quantity and receipt discrepancies, as needed
  • Other duties, as assigned
  • Report to work in-person and start job duties on time for established shift
  • Complete required hours on assigned works shift to complete assigned responsibilities and duties
  • Plan, forecast and purchase finished goods from various contract manufacturers
  • Crosstrain with Buyer to understand daily duties and purchase order process
  • Maintain a working knowledge of FDA 21 CFR 1271, FDA 21 CFR 820, AATB standards, ISO Standards, cGMP/CGTP, other relevant regulations/standards, and internal organizational policies and standard operating procedures.
  • Maintain acceptable attendance and punctuality for scheduled work hours and meetings. Ensure completion of assigned tasks and responsibilities within defined timeframes.
  • Flexibility to work outside of normal business hours during weekdays or weekends with reasonable advance notice to support business/operational needs when necessary.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Verify availability of raw materials, trained operators, available equipment that have all PM’s (preventative maintenance) and calibrations completed
  • Confirm delivery of required raw materials and expedite as required to meet production commitments
  • Collaborate and communicate with all stakeholders to ensure schedule commitments are met
  • Drive a sense of urgency with the operations team to overcome delays and raise awareness through communication to ensure on-time delivery

 

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a Business, Engineering or a related field is preferred with 0-3 years of experience as a Planner, Scheduler in a Manufacturing environment, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • ERP experience as a user – such as Oracle, QAD, SAP, NetSuite
  • Clearance of favorable background investigation required.
