Job Summary

Purpose:

Birth Tissue Recovery seeks a focused and detail-oriented individual to join our team in Charlotte, N.C., as a FULL-TIME ROTATING WEEKENDS Coordinator Support Associate. CSAs are responsible for ensuring the Charlotte team has adequate supplies in the office at all times, and that routine daily checks are completed. They are also responsible for completing regulated tasks and cleaning on time and per company SOPs and WIs. CSAs support our Placenta Donation Coordinators in their role as well, and must be able to work weekends. We provide on-the-job training for this position. Ideal candidate must be able to spend two weeks in Winston-Salem, N.C., for training.

Other requirements include: the ability to lift 30 pounds; ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time; and excellent communication skills (both written and verbal).

Job Responsibilities:

  • Understand and comply with privacy rules and regulations.
  • Perform tasks overseen and/or regulated by the AATB, FDA, and applicable state and federal agencies.
  • Compliance with Company standard operating procedures, and training related to the identification of potential donors, obtaining informed consent and related documentation, performing tissue acquisition/collection procedures, and maintaining hospital relations necessary for performance of duties.
  • Successfully complete a hospital orientation and credentialing process.
  • Obtain blood specimens from hospital staff, document and maintain chain-of-custody.
  • Obtain pertinent patient medical records.
  • Perform hands-on aseptic placenta tissue acquisition procedures including, when applicable, being present in the operating room, interacting with OR staff, accepting freshly delivered placenta.
  • Accurate, timely, and complete documentation of all activities.
  • Label, package, and ship tissue and lab specimens.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Review records and forms for completion and accuracy.
  • Record temperatures and maintain records.
  • Maintain and clean laboratory equipment.
  • Prepare temperature records.
  • Provides support to PDC.
  • Record keeping, facility maintenance, tissue storage, inventory, receipt and stocking of supplies, and other assigned duties.

 

Skills/Requirements:

  • Two years of clinical background experience (e.g., CST, RNs, CTBS) or equivalent tissue banking experience OR
  • Associate degree preferred (in Life Sciences, Biology, or Nursing preferred).
  • Successfully complete a background and reference check, drug screening, and be subject to periodic, unannounced re-testing.
  • Must have working knowledge of medical terminology and good documentation practices.
  • Must be able to perform aseptic tissue acquisition procedures.
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods of time and lift 30 pounds.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and exceptional bedside manner required.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of people, including patients and hospital staff.
  • Must be able to work well under pressure without compromise to quality of work.
  • Must have current valid Driver’s License, auto insurance and reliable transportation.
